Cole 2 - Framed Original Art History Color Study

Each of the art history color studies is referencing an artwork by a historically significant artist, chosen for its impressive use of color. 

I analyzed each artwork and broke it down into a handful of colors, matching them to the best of my ability in oil paint. I then placed each color using a palette knife, in a composition that felt balanced to my eye. I switched over to a paintbrush to push the colors around the surface, blending where needed, until I felt content with the overall look. 

Each original measures 4 x 4 inches and is set in a beautiful gold-tone metal and glass frame that hangs from a chain. Each piece is signed, and details about the inspiration are hand written on the back.
